Stabat Mater by Pergolesi for soprano, alto female voice and four saxes; a premiere. Conductor Pierre Schuitemaker worked hard to form us from a jazz band into a barock quartet and guided us during the recording. Gato painted the beautiful cover.

In juni 2008 we played three days in Purmerend on Festival Reuring. The music on this 'enhanced' cd consists of songs especially composed and recorded for the occasion. Only for sale on the festival but we scored a few extra!

Morgan & More: Six songs by Lee Morgan and six by bandmembers. Presentend in june 2005.

In 1999 our first CD was presented on the Arsis classics label. This CD contains exclusively our own compositions.
The members of the quartet all have different background in pop and jazz and their compositions are very varied. We have a modern suite, jazzy funk, a merengue, a kwela, these four musicians have no trouble with any of them. All through this album swings and you hear their enthusiasm when they improvise. This group regularly reminds you of Your Neighbourhood Saxophone Quartet from Boston but Saxo Panico distinguishes itself from their American colleagues with a more romantic sound and a preference for unison passages. Smove...., wich posits a wonderfully polyrythmic framework for a catchy alto sax improvisation that is at once spontaneously free and utterly logical aptly illustrates Saxo Panicos virtues - a kind of music-making that is both refreshingly free and totally disciplined. The diverse styles embraced by this group are subsumed into an overall sound that is polyrythmically and contrapuntally intricate, harmonically telling, infectious, and inimitable.... The level of Saxo Panicos ensemble give-and-take and rythmic acuity is found only in the best string quartets. Its wholly relaxed and depoliticed multiculturalism and cross-genre thinking adds up to a most enjoyable way to spend 45 minutes,....
